Abstract

Adult Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS) is rare in pregnancy. Since other causes of maternal mortality are declining, ARDS is increasingly important in mortality of obstetric patients. Obstetric causes of ARDS and non-related-topregnancy conditions have been identified. Changes in the airways predispose pregnant patients to these complications. The management of the obstetric patient with ARDS presents unique challenges. This is a case report of ARDS and pregnancy, an aspect increasingly addressed in the medical literature, of interest in maternal mortality indicators.
