The issue of gender in the Kuwaiti Constitution and legislation is the central theme of this article. The text elaborates on aspects such as sexual identity, the treatment of women in the 1962 Constitution, the issue of inheritance, qualities to be a member of the National Assembly or to be a minister, among others. A number of cases are specifically cited to exemplify the difficulties faced by the judicial system, especially in cases of gender change.
