Abstract

This descriptive, cross-sectional study was carried out seeking to establish the level of happiness of students from the Health Faculty at Universidad Surcolombiana. Satisfaction With Life Scale (SWLS) by Diener and the Orientations to Happiness Questionnaire by Peterson were used with a sample of 285 students from the Medicine, Nursing and Psychology academic programs. These students have a full life since they reached high scores in all the dimensions of orientations to happiness: meaningful life, pleasant life and committed life. As it was with the SWLS, there wasn’t any gender difference. Age didn’t correlate to the study variables except pleasant life which had a negative correlation.

Medicine students had the highest scores of happiness over the Nursing and Psychology students whose scores were no different. Further research using different methodologies to clarify the nature of these differences is needed.
