Abstract

This research is based on the analysis of physicochemical parameters SARA fractionation, to develop a tool (STABILITY CROSS PLOT) able to characterize the crude with respect to its stability. There are currently two known methods for the same purpose, the Colloidal Instability Index and Stankiewicz Plot, however, this study shows that for an accurate determination of stability is necessary to take into account not only the physicochemical parameters of these methods SARA fractionation but also their relationships. STABILITY CROSS PLOT method has been developed based on research on oil performance with or without asphaltenes precipitation and a previous qualitative and quantitative analysis of saturated fractions, aromatic, resins and asphaltenes and the relation among them creating 4 graphics which altogether will show oil stability of any oil random sample which previous SARA analysis will be known in advance with a higher reliability comparing to the current methods.
