Efecto del almacenamiento hermético en la conservación de Sorgo infestado con Gorgojo Sitophilus Oryzae L.

Resumen

Crear una atmósfera confinada para el almacenamiento de sorgo a pequeña escala, resultó en una reducción de la infestación inicial de gorgojos presentes en el producto en los primeros días de almacenamiento, lográndose una eliminación total después de treinta días bajo las condiciones estudiadas, debido principalmente al efecto del metabolismo propio de los insectos y a la respiración del grano almacenado reduciendo la concentración de oxígeno e incrementando la de dióxido de carbono; mientras que en condiciones no herméticas la población se ve incrementada en forma significativa, con el consiguiente consumo y daño del producto almacenado.


El almacenamiento hermético de granos a pequeña escala se puede emplear como una alternativa viable para los campesinos, en la conservación de grano para el autoconsumo, semilla o para lograr mejores precios en el mercado.
