Announcement of the Dossier centenary of the birth of Paulo Freire

It is necessary to read, revise, and discuss as often as needed the work of the Brazilian educator Paulo Freire to put into practice his political-pedagogical ideology to question one's own educational experience projecting it as evidence of autonomy, emancipation, and freedom. This implies assuming education as a testimony of otherness, of recognition, and constant search, privileging all actions that enhance life and are directly opposed to the necrophilic and deficient visions of a pedagogy of subordination, of banking, aligning, and dehumanized pedagogy.

The educational conception that permeates Paulo Freire's work highlights a type of education that seeks the recognition and the legitimate development of the other, because to the extent that the other is constituted, a biophilic act crystallizes in terms of autonomy, communication, dialogue, and development with and for one another.

The dossier of the Paideia Surcolombiana journal, in homage to the 100th anniversary of the birth of the Brazilian pedagogue, aims to make visible reflections and academic proposals inspired by the theoretical constructions and the pedagogical-political stance of the most influential popular educator in Latin American geography for its validity and relevance in the current educational context.
