Abstract

The aim is to develop a treatment system for honey water produced from the wet processing of coffee, with the use of Moringa oleifera Lam as a bio adsorbent. Taking as a reference the Modular Anaerobic Treatment System (STMA) developed by Cenicafé, an on-site system is designed and built in a small coffee farm in a municipality in the department of Huila, Colombia. This system is analyzed for its functionality and effectiveness in compliance with existing regulations based on the analysis of physical and chemical variables of the water. The results indicate important pollutant removal rates, as well as the possibility of establishing this type of system in small coffee farms.
