The meaning of art in education Significado del arte en la educación

Abstract

A kid when make a drawing is constructing an object, or when paints something. He gives something more than a mere drawing, the kid is giving a part of himself: How he thinks, how he feels, how he sees. Do we really take into account  the human values in our educative system?

Our actual educative system allocates a lot of importance to the learning of the right data about the facts.  Into a great extent, the aproval of an exam, a course, or  even the permanence in the school, depends on the dominance or the memorizing of certain fragments of information that the teacher already knows.  In this way, the function of teaching seems to be reduced to train people able to collect part of the information and repeat it in a signal.
