Abstract

Gastric antral vascular ectasia (G A V E ) syndrome, also known as watermelon stomach is a significant cause of acute or chronic gastrointestinal blood loss, as well as presentation with epigastric abdominal pain. It is endoscopically characterized by "watermelon stripes" in gastric mucous membrane. A case o f a patient with GAVE, and chronic gastritis with H. pylori positive in the biopsy is reported. The patient received treatment fo r H. pylori, due to persistent symptoms and bleeding risk. It was decided to provide endoscopic treatment with argon plasma coagulation, being it a success. Different ways of treatment are also described.
