El tema de innovación financiera en la última década ha desempeñado un rol importante en China, también ha afectado significativamente a las instituciones financieras, los mercados financieros y las regulaciones financieras en este país; China, desde 2016 ha superado a Estados Unidos por primera vez, ocupando el primer lugar en inversiones en innovación financiera (YANG and HE, 2018). 

Por la relevancia internacional y nacional del tema, la Universidad Surcolombiana desarrolló el “III congreso internacional de manejo y gestión del riesgo financiero: tendencias, retos y oportunidades” durante los días 10, 11 y 12 de octubre de 2018, en la ciudad de Neiva, Huila, Colombia. El evento fue liderado por el programa de Administración Financiera y el Centro de Investigación CESPOSUR en la Facultad de Economía y Administración.

Se agradece la participación de investigadores extranjeros, que vinieron a compartir sus experiencias académicas desde Francia, Ecuador y Argentina con este importante tema, que según YANG and HE (2018), su objetivo central es suministrar nuevos productos y servicios financieros, ampliar las cuotas de mercado, lograr una mayor gestión y beneficios sociales, y mejorar la eficiencia del mercado.

Por tanto, este número especial contiene las ponencias presentadas en el congreso internacional mencionado, como una de las formas de difundir y compartir investigaciones en desarrollo o investigaciones terminadas en la temática de riesgo financiero e innovación financiera.

The issue of financial innovation in the last decade has played an important role in China, it has also significantly affected financial institutions, financial markets and financial regulations in this country; China, since 2016, has surpassed the United States for the first time, occupying the first place in investments in financial innovation (YANG and HE, 2018).

Due to the international and national importance of the topic, the Surcolombiana University developed the "Third International Congress on Management and Management of Financial Risk: Trends, Challenges and Opportunities" on October 10, 11 and 12, 2018, in the city of Neiva. , Huila, Colombia. The Financial Administration program and the CESPOSUR Research Center in the Faculty of Economics and Administration led the event.

We thank the participation of foreign researchers, who came to share their academic experiences from France, Ecuador and Argentina with this important topic, which according to YANG and HE (2018), its main objective is to provide new products and financial services, increase the quotas of market, achieve greater management and social benefits, and improve market efficiency.

Therefore, this special issue contains the papers presented at the aforementioned international congress, as one of the ways to disseminate and share research in development or finished research in the field of financial risk and financial innovation.
