Brief review of the Colombian pasillo and composition contribution

Abstract

This article is a historical review about the pasillo rythm. Colombian folkloric rythm of great meaning to the  country's musical history. At first, the historical sources that help to clarify their origin and birth on Colombian land are mentioned, here also the two existing hall ways (slow and partying) are pointed out, then mention is made of the instruments that have allowed their diffusion and the composers who, at the national and regional level, have made their works with this rhythm. Finally, we present the structural analysis and the score of the pasillo "Ana Beatriz", whose composer is the author of this text.
