The Constitutional Court of Colombia, created by the Political Constitution of 1991 to guarantee the protection of fundamental rights and respect for the Constitution, has developed, from its constitutional interpretation, a protective and creative jurisprudence of new rights, extending its judicial competences putting them very close to the legislative ones. For 26 years, the Court has been applying an interpretative typology found in its judgments, which shows advances in the defense of the constitution and the protection of fundamental rights. This article will try to explain the types of interpretation applied by Colombian Constitutional Court.
