In the Surcolombian university in its 35 years of existence, the student retreat has not been studied theoretically or practically and it is truly worrisome that of 100 young people who manage to access it, about 40 leave it, without finishing their respective academic cycle. In view of this situation, this research focused on the identification, analysis, determination and classification of the attrition factors that the USCO presents in the 2002-2005 period.
Methodologically, it is an ex-post research, with a quantitative and qualitative analysis, which addresses the phenomenon of University Dropout at the Surcolombiana University, from a double perspective: the first of an external nature; referred to the socioeconomic order; and the second one of internal character; which considers academic factors.
