##plugins.themes.bootstrap3.article.main##
In this article, we will deal with a reference called 'mental representations' and their respective 'prototypes' present in the communication process. This topic can be considered from different theoretical frameworks but our contribution is based on the global theoretical framework of cognitive linguistics. That is why the presentation will be divided into (§1) a general setting on what is understood by cognitive linguistics and the approaches of Cambridge and California, (§2) the particularities of communication from the 'emotionality' and hierarchy of prototypes and its representations through cognitive maps.
